Francine loves to shake her groove thing. That’s a fact. Born a mover and a shaker, Francine has probably been dancing for as long as she has been stringing love stories together. The usual repertoire of jazz ballet and hip hop drove her passion for dance through her childhood and teenage years. But in 2005, Francine discovered West African drum and dance and her love has rested here ever since. Francine has learnt from some of Melbourne’s best exponents and teachers of West African dance and also spent months in Senegal learning traditional dances at Blaisse Senghor. Francine was a former member of the drum and dance troupe – Wassawumba. Now, Francine dances solely with Ouaga – a ten piece contemporary African fusion band. Francine also plays light percussion (shaker, bell and kirin) with the group. She dances with fire in the heart and fire in the feet.
